Temper tantrum

Lately Kayden has been, how should I say it, throwing tantrums? He doesn't want to change his diapers nor want anyone except me to carry him. He's doing things we don't want him to do and not being cooperative { I doubt Kayden understands this word }. Sometimes he cried out so loud till my MIL came running into the room, asking what had happened...

" WHAT AM I TO DO? " - that's the question that has been on my mind lately! All these experiences are new to me, a new mother...

Luckily, later that afternoon, I've got my answer. As I was browsing through the tv channels, I came across a programme about toddlers and their behaviours on "Home & Health". At that instant, I thank God for answering my prayers. The topic was on " Surviving temper tantrums ". They said that this is very common for toddlers from the age of 1 to 4.

What we, as mothers can do, is to first UNDERSTAND WHAT IT IS... The main point to remember is that we have to BE PATIENCE - DO NOT SCOLD THEM even though it is difficult to figure them out... And always remember NEVER REWARD A TANTRUM!

I learned a lot from that programme. So next time if he were to throw a tantrum, I'll know what to do { fingers crossed } :P

Like I always tell myself - Enjoy this time. It's very short. It's an opportunity to watch him be enchanted with the world and be curious with everything around him. Do not have too much expectations as he is just learning too...

Scared of lion dance?

Last year, around this time, Kayden and I would be hiding in the bedroom when the lion is doing his dance moves in the living room { He's still a baby - worried that he might not get used to the beating of the drums as well as the lion }. However, this year, it is different! The instant Kayden heard the drums, he danced to the rhythm of the beat... Not only that, while the lion was doing his round in the living room, he reached out to touch the lion and laughed. I believed he enjoyed himself very much :p

Year of Ox

Happy Niu Year or should I say, Happy Moo Moo Year to everyone.

First day of CNY was indeed very tiring... however, I think my in-laws were more tired than I am as they were the ones entertaining the guests while I was more into entertaining my son. At first, Kayden was a little unused to seeing many people at one time but after a while, he slowly warmed up to them and had a great time. Normally he would take his afternoon nap at around two but on that day, he had so much fun, he has forgotten all about napping....

Just one day to CNY

For the past three nights, there was no electric power in our neighbourhood due to a heavy downpour. All of us had to sleep without lights and fans. Luckily Kayden managed to sleep well except for a few mosquito bites (had to open door and window to let the air from outside come in).
Tonight is CNY Eve. All of us are gonna have a scrumptious dinner. Oh, oh.. definitely gonna put in extra pounds.... hehe.

A new wardrobe

A new year, a new beginning and also a new wardrobe! Is it necessary???? Well, for me, YES!!!
I've been putting on some weight that I can't fit into my old clothes... that's bad news rite? Actually, it's half bad news and half good news for me... let's look on the brighter side - I get to buy and wear new clothes. Is that a great start and a new "look" for a new year?
However, I promised myself to exercise more whenever I have time to do so... maybe go gym once in a while or something.
Let's just hope to see some results in a few months :p

Slow and steady

Kayden once again amazes me... he can now walk by himself though not so much in a straight line... but he tries his best to improve... As it has been raining lately, my MIL always reminded me to wear his socks so that his feet would not be cold. However, if Kayden were to wear socks and walk, sometimes he will slip as it's slippery. So this morning, he took off his own socks, stood up by holding onto the edge of the bed and walked. It's unbelievable to see how much he has learnt in just a week.

I believe by CNY, he will be able to walk much more on his own.

Out and About

Last week, my in-laws and I brought Kayden out shopping at The Mall. We were walking along some stores when he suddenly shouted out ( I guess he wanted our attention ) and pointed to one of the stores. Out of curiousity, my father - in - law went over to see what he was pointing at. He laughed out loud and took out a Mickey Mouse balloon. Kayden instantly clapped his hands ( that's his way of telling us he wanted something )...
He just loves Mickey Mouse. Anything related to Mickey Mouse, he wants them - he's only one year old and yet he knows what he wants already. I can't wait for him to grow up. I wonder what surprises he will give me. Looking forward to them very much...

Bitten ; (

After showering Kayden this morning, I noticed a small red rash on his left elbow. Kayden's skin is quite sensitive. If he got bitten by a mosquito or a bed bug, it would result in a rash. There was a time that he got bitten on the face and ear - the ear became so swollen, we got very worried....
However, after applying some oinment to it, he feels better. Now he's sleeping soundly on the bed.

Meeska Mooska Mickey Mouse

I know kids often become obsessive towards their cartoon heroes. But I never imagined it would be so cute.
Kayden is a huge fan of Mickey Mouse. He just loves Mickey Mouse. His birthday theme is Mickey Mouse, his birthday cake is Mickey Mouse and even his feeding bottles are all Mickey Mouse. He also has a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Book which his Ku-Ma bought for him. He would dance to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse's Hot Dog song and the song he listens to during his feeding time is from " Mickey Great Clubhouse Hunt ":

" We're getting ready for the best Easter party ever,
The best part is we'll be together,
And we'll be friends forever,
It's springtime, a shing-a-ling-a-ling time,
Springtime, a make you wanna sing time,
La, la, la, la, la........................ "

First try...

Kayden stood by himself for about 5 secs today. Not only that, he walked 5 small steps by himself too ( I stood close to him, arms stretching out, in case he trips ). My mother - in - law said that now is the time that Kayden will try to stand up and walk by himself, henceforth we have to be alert everytime.

Kayden never cease to amaze me.... He is always coming up with new gimmicks and giving me surprises. Later in the evening, he did a " half split " for me.

Oh, how I adore my son.

Draw, draw, draw...

My mother in law and I didn’t really pushed the idea on him. We just waited until he showed some interest, and once he held that "pencil" in his hand, this is what he drew.... (What do you think it looks like?)
At that time, I was impressed by the simple achievement my son made. I saw the smile he had on his face after he completed that picture. He has indeed made me proud of him.

Goodbye 2008, Welcome 2009 (",)

A brand new year for a brand new start... Hope this year will be a wonderful year for everyone.

My GOALS for the new year are very simple:

1) Take care of myself - Have to remind myself to eat well, exercise and organise my activities.

2) Take care of my family - Love my husband and son. Talk to them, listen to them, spend time with them.

3) Make time for my husband - men need love and affection too.

4) Spend some time with friends - do some catching up once in a while.

5) Dedicate time and energy to this blog!

6) Learn to cook ( I can cook but only simple dishes ) and bake.
