LaTesT DisH - aYam MasaK MeRaH

This morning, I drove Mama and Jacq-che to Times Square to check whether Sam's new hair saloon is open for business for Mama wanted to wash her hair. As it was not open, we decided to hang out at the Food Court while waiting for time to pass by as we have to pick Kayden up from school in an hour.

Jacq-che's long awaited Kopi Tarik is found - we have been searching for it everywhere and it seems that they only have Kopi and not Tarik! Whereas, Mama and me found Teh Tarik India which tasted very smoothing compared to other coffee shops. We browsed around the food court and was amazed to see many wonderful dishes - the green vegetables looked so fresh and the other dishes were just as tempting as they were. there's Japanese food, Malay Cuisine, Vietnamese Pho, Interenational Nasi Lemak, Dim Sum and even Lei Loi Fatt! The prices too were reasonable and cheap!

Mama ordered some dim sum while I ordered 'pucuk' and ayam masak merah - I just couldn't resist trying them. I fell in love with the dish and told myself that I am going to try and create that dish myself. In the afternoon, I went and searched the internet for different recipes to cook ayam masak merah and combined them to create a perfect dish!

Doesn't it look scrumptious! ;-p

The above dish is also another dish I found while surfing for the ayam masak merah recipe. It's actually Fish Sauce Sausage and Cucumber Fried Rice. It's the first time I tried cooking rice with cucumber and it tasted crunchy. Wonderful colour combination, don't you think?

Once again, Kayden has to bring some snacks to share with his friends in school. Whenever the school has this tiny celebration - this time, it is to celebrate our National Day - I always find myself thinking of what to get for these young toddlers as they are still 2 - 3 years. I have to make sure that these snacks are healthy for them but then, most snacks aren't. I supposed if you take a small amount of each, it would not much harm. So I ended up buying doughnuts for Kayden to bring to school.

Yesterday we were browsing around the shops in Yayasan Complex when we came across a doughnut shop - Fun Donut. Kayden went in and saw a decorated rainbow sprinkled doughnut - he liked it a lot. So I bought him one to let him have a taste of it - it's his first time tasting a doughnut with a bit of icing and rainbow rice grains. He took a few bites and when he reached the sugary part, he shuddered - could be from the sweetness of it. What joyful experience to see his 'funny' expression! It was priceless...

His rainbow donut

Enjoying every bite of it ;-p

Kayden brought home one of his latest creation from school today - a hat to commemorate Brunei's National Day. It's amazing to see him growing up so fast and learning many new things at school.

NooDleS & BiScuiTs for TeA

Kayden continues to thrive. He has reached the stage where he is enough of baby biscuits, porridge and nestum. When he was young, he had trouble with biscuits as they made him hard to poo. But now, all is fine! Today he ate a small bowl of noodles and a few biscuits waffles. It was after a game of kick ball where I asked him to rest for a while and he said he was tired and hungry. This is actually the first time I heard him saying the word 'tired' and 'hungry'.

Eating a chocolate biscuit waffle

Having a drink after the biscuit

Continuing with noodles

A satisfied look

Following instructions on the packaging, these are the doughnuts made by me!

Meanwhile, Jacq-che baked vanilla sponge cake. The way the cake was cut reminded me of 'Pack Man'; a game I used to play when young.

A GaMe Of TeNNis WiTh KayDen

I had a wonderful afternoon today. Even though I lost the game to Kayden, I enjoyed playing Wii Tennis with him. I daresay he is getting better at these games.

On the left is Kayden while on the right is me.

He was so happy when he won - he even did the impression of someone scoring a goal with both his hands up and yelling "Yeah"!

LonG CabbaGe RoLL with MushRoom and AsparaGuS

I learned this dish from a book my mother-in-law loaned to me. It looks so appetizing, I could not resist not trying to make them. The ingredients were easy to get and anyone can just do it! It is as simple as rolling up spring rolls ;-p

Egg TarTs

Dedicating my time to learn how to cook and bake has been very satisfying. I tried making egg tarts for a second time and they came out quite well except that they are slightly sweet.
